Cross believes it is the ability to make quick decisions on the local level, and to be highly flexible, that sets Courier Express apart from its competition.

"We are a large company, but our focus is on serving the immediate, specific needs of our customers," said Cross, who has 25 years of experience in transportation. "We don’t get slowed down by red tape and we don’t make excuses. If one of our customers needs something special, or has a unique challenge, we have the ability to quickly devise a solution and flip the switch. Our commitment to our customers is more than a mission statement we hang up on the wall. It is the way we do business every day."

Operating out of seven locations in South Carolina and western North Carolina, the rapidly expanding Charlotte-based division of Courier Express added 10 employees in 2009 and 40 independent contractors. The region specializes in delivery of office products and medical specimens, auto parts distribution and industrial chemical delivery -- including hazardous materials -- as well as scheduled and on-demand courier services.

Because our satellite locations have been strategically spaced out roughly 100 miles apart from each other, it makes next-day service highly efficient.
"We are well-positioned to handle any size shipments, any time of the day or night," Cross said. "We have a connectivity of service that our competitors do not. No one can match our level of service. And we will continue to look for ways to offer even more to our customers."
